NEW YORK-New services, more customers and rising minutes of use are increasing the power supply demands of wireless devices and networks, and in turn, accelerating development of rechargeable and refillable batteries to accommodate these requirements. Global revenues from the sale of rechargeable batteries to power mobile handsets and computers will rise to $4.68 billion by 2007, up from $2.78 billion in 2000, according to projections Frost & Sullivan released in late September.
