Verizon premieres short messaging service. (Business).

BEDMINSTER, N.J.--Verizon Wireless unveiled www.vtext.com, a short text messaging Web site designed to help customers send text messages to individuals and groups and set up information alerts. The service works with the carrier's Mobile Messenger text messaging service, allowing the sender to confirm delivery, that the message was received by the phone and receive a data and time stamp.

In addition, two-way messaging capable phones can reply back to the vtext.com Web site creating an interactive chat session.
