PARIS--Alcatel and Fujitsu Ltd. said they successfully carried out voice and high-speed data and video communications using a live third-generation Universal Mobile Telecommunication System network. The demonstration was held in Beijing. The demonstration included Web browsing, access to online information, image transfer, video streaming and downloading, and transfer of live video from a remote Web cam in Shanghai.
The demonstration also included applications developed by Fujitsu and in use in Japan, including mobile reservation and ticketing services. Alcatel and Fujitsu have a partnership for collaborating on 3G technology.
