At first glance it seems easy to figure out Wireless Knowledge. Until a few months ago, the company was a joint venture between Qualcomm Inc. and Microsoft Corp. This led many in the industry to assume that Wireless Knowledge, which sells wireless access to corporate information, was really just an agent of its parent companies--that its unstated agenda was to grow the market for CDMA technology and Microsoft products.
But Wireless Knowledge, which bought out Microsoft's stake and is now a subsidiary of Qualcomm, is more than that. It's one of the few companies focused on the wireless enterprise space that is doing well--the company is looking to hire an additional 30 employees--and it is considered an independent alternative to device-centric...
