Good goes on offensive with RIM patent challenge. (News).

Wireless startup Good Technology Inc. fired a pre-emptive legal strike, against rival Research In Motion Ltd., asking a federal court to rule on whether Good's wireless e-mail product infringes on RIM's single mailbox patent.

"Research In Motion Ltd. has been vocal about protecting its single mailbox patent," Good said. "Good does not infringe on RIM's single mailbox patent. We have filed this complaint for declaratory relief to ask the court to confirm that we do not infringe on this patent."

A Good official said the company would not comment beyond its statement. A RIM spokeswoman said the company does not comment on legal affairs.

RIM officials in the past have stated their intent to protect the company's patents. RIM in February...
