Verizon chooses Nortel for packet switching. (Late News).

Nortel Networks said Verizon Wireless has selected it to supply its packet switching equipment in what it described as the biggest deployment on a voice network in North America. The contract, whose financial terms are under wraps, will cover 1.8 million calls in New Jersey and Florida, according to the companies.
