Toyota ready to launch G-Book initiative with KDDI. (News).

TOKYO--Toyota Motor Co. said it has completed the development of its telematics initiative, G-Book, a subscription information network based on the infrastructure of Toyota's Gazoo information service that will supply drivers in Japan with navigation, news, entertainment, safety and voice and e-mail services through an onboard terminal.

Toyota will use KDDI Corp.'s wireless network and charge a flat fee.

Toyota said G-Book will open its introductory site Sept. 1, and on Oct. 1, it will commence limited services for personal computers, personal digital assistants and mobile phones. The company also said an unspecified Toyota vehicle model will feature the G-Book terminal later this fall.
