SAO PAULO, Brazil -- Telecom Italia Mobile will begin its PCS operations in Brazil this month, according to Giorgio della Seta, Telecom Italia president for Latin America. Della Seta said the network is ready and will be operational after final technical adjustments. TIM has been unable to launch mobile service in Brazil, but in August finally reached an agreement to decrease its shareholding in Brasil Telecom.

Regulator Anatel has already made public that the move opens the way for TIM to receive its green light for a mobile service launch. The deal between Telecom Italia and Brasil Telecom controller Opportunity Group, a multibillion dollar investment bank known for its aggressiveness, ends a three-year conflict.
