Byline: EMILY MOTSAY Bechtel Telecommunications, a business unit of Bechtel Corp., is preparing to open the Bechtel Wireless Test Bed, a secure open-air location where wireless carriers and vendors can evaluate network technologies, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The BWTB is located on federal land at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory, an open-air testing area the size of the state of Rhode Island, according to Jake MacLeod, principal vice president of engineering and chief technology officer at Bechtel Telecommunications.
Carriers and vendors are using the facility for over-the-air testing of advanced cellular technologies including point-to-point and point-to-multipoint communications, LMDS, free space optics, microwave...
