Byline: SAM OMATSEYE As Wi-Fi is to wireless local area networks, so WiMax is becoming for metropolitan area networks, a broadband technology that looks to compete with and complement both digital subscriber line and cable technologies in capturing last-mile hearts. Some topflight companies have come together to promote the wireless technology under the umbrella of WiMax to ensure that the gear and solutions interoperate and follow industrywide standards.
