IBM rolls out database software.(News)

Byline: SAM OMATSEYE IBM Corp. said its new database software gives enterprise greater service than rivals Microsoft Corp. and Oracle Corp. Oracle supports Oracle 9i and Microsoft supports Pocket PC and its server database, said Jay Pederson, product manager at IBM Mobile Computing.

But "our sync server talks to DB2, oracle 9I and Microsoft server,'' he noted. Mobile workers can access databases using personal digital assistants, smart phones and laptops. Its DB2 Everyplace version 8 allow enterprise end users to access a variety of information real time without the need of an administration. The company said the solution is a two-part offering.
