Toshiba fuel cell recorded in Guinness World Records.(Global Wireless)

Guinness World Records officially certified Toshiba Corp.'s direct methanol fuel cell as the world's smallest DMFC. The fuel cell is designed for integration into devices as small as digital music players. The cell is about as long and wide as a thumb, measuring 22 by 56 by 4.5 millimeters.

The prototype is efficient enough to power an MP3 music player for as long as 20 hours on a single 2cc charge of highly concentrated methanol.
