GAO confirms Lucent not allowed to bid on Iraq contract.(News)

Byline: JEFFREY SILVA The Government Accountability Office said Lucent Technologies Inc. attempted to bid on a $50 million Iraqi wireless contract based on a proposal it helped write and said an Army contracting officer suggested Lucent may have tried to steer the nationwide first-responder radio contract to Motorola Inc.

Lucent's involvement in the procurement was outlined in a redacted GAO decision in which the government watchdog agency affirmed a prior Army finding that Lucent's conflict of interest disqualified it from competing for the Iraqi first-responder radio contract.
