Cingular details $500M network upgrade in Florida.(News)

Cingular Wireless L.L.C. announced plans to invest more than $500 million to expand its Florida networks and integrate them with those of AT&T Wireless Services Inc., which the company acquired last year. The company said it plans to invest more than $200 million to integrate its South Florida network with AT&T Wireless' network as well as to increase coverage and capacity with 16 new sites.

Cingular expects to spend $300 million to upgrade and integrate its North Florida market, including 37 planned new sites. The company said it already has added three sites in South Florida and 10 sites in North Florida.
