Consortium offers initiative to simplify mobile browsing.(News)

A consortium of Web-based companies unveiled an initiative to simplify Internet browsing from handheld devices. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) encouraged members to join two working groups working to make Web browsing easier from mobile phones and other devices. One subcommittee is charged with creating policies and best practices for content providers, the other will develop guidelines to allow Internet portals to tailor their sites to specific handsets.
