IXI Mobile drops software biz for Ogo.(News)

Startup IXI Mobile Inc. announced it will shut down its software business and will instead focus on sales of its Ogo wireless messaging device. The announcement brings an end to the company's grandiose plans to redefine the wireless handset market with a range of simple wireless gadgets connected through Bluetooth. IXI declined to offer details on its decision, including how many jobs would be cut from the company.

The Ogo messaging device was first introduced last year through AT&T Wireless Services Inc. It does not support voice calls, but instead features a tiny keyboard and wireless access to instant messaging and e-mail programs.
