Wireless broadband developer Alvarion Ltd. and information-technology vendor IBM Corp. announced plans to jointly develop and deliver Internet Protocol-based wireless networks to municipalities and public safety agencies. The companies said they have been piloting their wireless network offerings in Fresno, Calif., supplying the city with a public safety network for police use.
The network was built by IBM using Alvarion broadband wireless systems and IBM's WebSphere Everyplace Connection Manager.
