Palm OS scores another licensee.(News)

Janam Technologies L.L.C. said it licensed Access Systems Americas Inc.'s Palm OS Garnet platform until 2011. Janam Technologies provides rugged mobile computers, and the agreement allows Janam to develop and sell application-specific mobile computers based on the Palm OS Garnet platform. Janam said it will offer Palm OS-based devices by the end of the year.

Japan-based Access acquired Palm OS vendor PalmSource in 2005. Other companies that license the Palm OS platform include Aceeca, AlphaSmart, Fossil Inc., Garmin, GSDPA, Kyocera Wireless Corp., Lenovo, LG Electronics Co. Ltd., Palm Inc., PiTech, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Sony and Symbol Technologies.
