CheckFree Corp. and Firethorn Holdings L.L.C. said they are teaming up to deliver mobile banking and bill payment services to financial institutions. The exclusive partnership agreement between the two companies calls for Firethorn to provide its mobile banking and payments solution to allow customers to use their cell phones to view account and credit card balances, transfer funds between accounts and even pay bills.
The service is expected to be available early next year. CheckFree will host the application on its financial services platform. Firethorn's platform provides security options including PIN authorization and lockout, content clearing for lost or stolen phones, data encryption, two-factor authorization and SSL protection.
