Sprint Nextel, Microsoft strategic alliance yields search service.(News)

Byline: KELLY HILL Sprint Nextel Corp. announced the first product from a new strategic alliance with Microsoft Corp.: The carrier will offer Windows Live Search for mobile on its handsets, and eventually will upgrade the service with GPS capabilities. Customers will be able to use the service to locate local shops or restaurants, and also will be able to turn up results from Sprint Nextel's content catalog of ringtones, games and other downloads.

The service is now available free to Power Vision and PCS Vision customers "on all currently available data-capable phones, along with many popular older models,'' according to Sprint Nextel.
