Toshiba Corp. (www.toshiba.com) and SanDisk Corp. (www.sandisk.com) have jointly released an 8-gigabit NAND flash memory chip with 70-nanometer technology. It offers one-gigabyte date storage capacity on a single chip.
NAND utilizes multi-cell technology that allows two bits of data to be stored in one memory cell, which doubles memory capacity. The two companies plan to begin producing flash memory products based on the NAND technology this summer.
