Boston University's School of Management upgrades its educational administration by installing a parallel processing computer system with an administrative software package. It selected Encore Computer Corp's Multimax/CARS hardware-and-software information system. Encore ports the CARS administrative software package into the Multimax parallel processing computer system. It met the price-performance test as an expandable, UNIX-based system compatible with other computers in the university's system. It could also load information from the IBM 3090 central mainframes. The CARS software can easily be customized to match the menu, formatting and reporting needs of the School of Management. It now processes the 20,000 inquiries and 4,000 applications the school receives each academic...
