Columbia University is rebuilding its Administrative Information System architecture around IBM's ES/9000 mainframe computer and its MVS/ESA operating system. The school selected the IBM mainframe and operating system, augmented by SIS/Legend software from American Management Systems, in order to provide a state-of-the-art on-line information system that integrates admissions, registration, billing, financial aid and housing information for its 20,000 students. The CORE Foundation software provided by AMS gives users access to up-to-date features such as dynamic menu generation and user-determined screen sequences.
