Yale University assistant professor of psychology Ed Karriss uses White Pine Software Inc's eXodus connectivity software to allow X-Windows' UNIX programs run on an Apple Macintosh alongside Macintosh programs and permits data to be copied and pasted from one to the other. Karriss applies eXodus to connect an Apple Macintosh IIcx with a Sun 386i workstation and Sun SPARCstations. Universities, in particular, have many UNIX workstations because of their considerable computing power, relatively low cost and networking ability. They also have a variety of Macintoshes and PCs, and productivity can be substantially improved if these microcomputers can be integrated into the network of UNIX workstations.
