Educators at Radford University in Radford, VA, have developed Mission Possible: Learning Skills for Better Communication interactive multimedia instruction (IMI) videodiscs, which teach students how to be better listeners. The IMI system runs on 15 Macintosh IIs equipped with videodisc players. Students spend an average of 50 to 75 minutes with the system, which helps them to identify their listening behavior and bad habits, counteract the negative listening tactics and improve active listening techniques. The IMI system provides more learning in less time through integration of text, graphics, voice-overs, and audio, all of which reinforce the lesson.
