The Interactive Multimedia Distribution System (IMDS) project at Indiana University Purdue University (IUPUI) has produced the first interactive multimedia system supporting industrywide delivery, retrievals and authoring of multimedia resources for teaching and learning. Four types of IMDS educational applications are described, which are video-on-demand, multimedia papers, advanced multimedia and classroom teaching applications. The multimedia papers capability is particularly interesting, providing an easy-to-use environment for putting together papers or reports in multimedia format.
