A Olsten survey of 1,481 MIS professionals reveals that the demand for computer skills at all job levels is increasing, but another HR survey has discovered that recent college graduates typically lack computer literacy skills. A research project managed by the Albert R. Mann Library at Cornell University examined which computer skills employers deemed necessary when hiring recent Cornell graduates. Findings of the Cornell study demonstrated that employers put high stakes in computer skills. A large number expect students to have basic word processing skills, while few deemed DTP skills as a necessity.
