On May 2, 1998, Gail Spears became the first Going the Distance (GTD) graduate in the country. Gail earned an associate degree in general business by completing 79 credit hours of instruction, all delivered by distance learning from Mott Community College in Flint, Michigan. Gail lives in Dayton, Ohio, where she has worked for General Motors for 25 years. She is currently a first-line supervisor at GM's Delphi Chassis Systems division.
