The University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill is a leading proponent of the use of video for educational purposes. High quality video images for distance learning, educational programming, telemedicine and teleconferencing are transported across the university's network infrastructure. The university can also transmit educational programming to the local cable television station, which sends it to households all over the Chapel Hill area, as well as to desktop computers on campus and throughout the world via the Internet. The university is using Artel's DigiLink 1220 series of transport equipment and a Utah-300 router to transport digital video while enabling campus studios to remain analog
