STAR revenue soars.(Star TV Inc.)(Brief Article)

Fuelled by major success in India, STAR's revenues were up 61 percent for the financial year to June 30, 2001. India was, at the same time, the scene of some of News Corp's major losses. News Corp included a write off of its investment in Zee Telefilms among the reasons for its abnormal loss of US$410 million for the last quarter.

At the Hong Kong-based STAR, gains in the quarter to June 30 were up 64 percent compared to the same period last year, according to News Corp's latest earnings release. Losses for the financial year dropped by 24 percent compared to the previous year.
