SingTel agreement paves way for SCV-Starhub merger.(Brief Article)

Singapore's monopoly cable operator, Singapore Cable Vision, and dominant telco SingTel are said to have reached an agreement on fibre optic line leases. The agreement will pave the way for the merger between SCV and SingTel rival, Starhub. According to local daily The Business Times, Singtel's agreement is required for shareholding changes at SCV; Singtel currently leases lines to SCV to transmit signals from its headend to hubs across the island.

The post-merger plans are expected to include offering voice services to SCV customers. The news report also said StarHub chief executive Terry Clontz was expected to head the merged entity while SCV president, Yong Lum Sung, a Singapore Technologies veteran, was said to be mulling other options, including...
