Hub scouts: the converged cable TV-telephone-internet "Hubbing" concept has huge room for growth in Singapore.(analysis)

Singapore's dominant pay-TV platform, StarHub Cable Vision, is part of a total communications package--the magic convergence concept of yesteryear--that delivers telephony, pay-TV and Internet access. But are consumers interested in a one-stop-shop experience? Only 9.5% of Singapore's one million households subscribe to all three of the services (cable television, telephone, broadband) offered by Singapore communications company StarHub.

According to the company's preliminary prospectus released in August as part of the IPO process, 29.5% of households subscribed to two services at the end of June this year. At least one service was provided to approximately 75% of Singapore's households. StarHub was at press time awaiting a Singapore Stock Exchange...
