NHK's Miracle Planet II--the Japanese public broadcaster's first major science series since Space Millennium three years ago--debuts at this year's MIPTV. Miracle Planet II (6x60mins) is a co-production with NHK (in association with NHK Enterprises 21), The Science Channel, Tele Images International, the National Film Board of Canada, and Telepool.

NHK says the series, which covers 4.6 billion years, revises the "gentle image of Mother Earth ... [into] a severe and often violent force". The series' executive producer is Daisuke Takama.
