When Television Asia featured a report on the Asia Pacific region satellite market in late 2004, the companies had referred to the oversupply of transponder capacity and declining prices as two of their main concerns. Now, almost two years later, even though the situation is still far from being ideal, there have been positive developments.

Undoubtedly, opportunities presented by the pay-TV sector in the Asia Pacific region continue to evoke bullish sentiments, a fact that is exemplified by PricewaterhouseCoopers' projection for TV distribution market. The company estimates the figure to touch US$36 billion by 2010, almost doubling 2005's US$18.7 billion. It's a scenario that gives satellite operators plenty to look forward to.
