Singapore -- Media Development Authority (MDA) has issued SingTel (Singapore Telecommunications) with a six-month Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) service licence to conduct technical trials. Offering TV via broadband connection through PC or set-top-box, SingTel has announced it will bid for broadcast rights to English Premier League (EPL) soccer from August 2007 May 2010.

With StarHub and ESPN STAR Sports also confirmed as bidders for the rights to broadcast EPL soccer in Singapore, analysts predict the winning bid will top S$150 million (US$96 million).
