Avid to roll out solutions for MacTels: no sooner had Apple unveiled its new crop of Intel powered Mac Pro workstations, that Avid is set to roll out updated versions of its industry-standard video and audio solutions for Intel-based Macs by year's end.(technology focus)

Avid Technology, Inc. announced plans to expand its wide range of video and audio content creation solutions to make it available for Intel-based Mac systems, including the new Mac Pro workstation introduced at last month's Apple Worldwide Developers Conference. The new Mac Pro reportedly features two Dual-Core Intel Xeon 5100 series processors running at 3.0GHz speed and supports up to four 500GB Serial ATA hard drives for a total of 2TB of internal storage.

It also includes three full-length PCI Express expansion slots and one double-wide PCI Express graphics slot. Mac Pro runs on Mac operating system OS X version 10.4.7 Tiger but is expected to migrate to the forthcoming Leopard OS version 10.5 when it is released next year. Avid, the world...
