France -- Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) has secured worldwide distribution rights to The Grand Finale, the only officially sanctioned film about the 2006 FIFA World Cup that contains unseen footage of the football tournament. The film is directed by Michael Apted, whose film credits include Gorillas in the Mist, and the James Bond film, The World is not Enough.
It is narrated by Pierce Brosnan, and aims to portray the excitement, emotions, and tension experienced by players, fans, coaches and officials in during the World Cup.
