THE good news, according to research figures from the US, is that more choice of viewing platforms is translating to more TV consumption overall. New technologies that allow viewers to time-, or place-shift, watching when and where they choose, are boosting average viewing times to an all-time high.

Figures from Nielsen Media Research show the average US household consuming eight hours and 14 minutes of TV per day; with the average individual American watching four hours and 35 minutes a day. According to an article in Fortune magazine, both figures are the highest ever recorded in Nielsen's 50-year history--and don't include TV watched via computer. The not-so-good news, for advertisers anyway, is that it will become more difficult to reach mass...
