The 3-D Home Kit allows students to experience what it's like to work as an architect as they design and construct 3-D models of their own dream homes. The kit, invented by Amherst, Massachusetts, designer Daniel Reif, has evolved from a tool for professionals to a bestselling educational "toy." During this process, Mr. Reif has added lessons in model construction and architectural design. Sections include hands-on design and math, designer and builder problems, and "Form + Function = Fun," which focuses on design basics and roof design.
