Where Texas stands in air quality compliance.
The EPA realizes that Texas is making tremendous improvements in air and water quality as compared to other states, even as we are growing far faster in population than most other states, according to Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) executive director, Kathleen White.
Even so, stresses White, the TCEQ needs more reduction from the construction sector. In order to prevent federal sanctions and withdrawals of highway funds, Tier 3 standards must fully transitioned for heavy-duty diesel and other off road equipment by 2013, when Tier 4 standards will be implemented.
