It's interesting to see how the global economy is taking accountants from even modestly sized firms to the far corners of the earth to service companies doing business overseas. Interesting, but frustrating for anyone who wants to keep in touch with the folks back home by telephone. As it turns out, it's not a small world after all.

Keeping in touch by e-mail is easy and relatively inexpensive. If your hotel does not have an Internet terminal (or connections in your room), you can simply pop down to an Internet cafe, Kinkos (in Asia, Europe and the Middle East) or other business office to check in daily. Costs vary around the world, but they seem to hover between US$1 and US$3 per hour. In Tokyo, it's slightly higher. And that's not a bad deal.
