Rich man's club; the OECD has found new members but lost a role. (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ) (Editorial)

Mexico became the first new member in 21 years to join the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), even though the organization's relevance is being questioned by some. However, the OECD does analyze several microeconomic areas in greater detail than any other organization.

GROUCHO MARX did not wish to join any club that would have him. Yet most people leap at the chance of joining an elite club. Take the so-called "rich man's club", the Paris-based Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Mexico signed up on April 14th, the first new member for 21 years. South Korea, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland are knocking on the door. Applying Groucho's rule, is it churlish to ask whether this is a club worth joining?
