The Democratic Party is becoming smaller and less powerful. Some Democratic conservatives in Congress are dropping out, and making the party look too liberal for mainstream voters. Pres Clinton should not ally himself with this party if he wants to be elected in 1996.
COULD the lethal virus smite America? No, not the Ebola horror that has struck in Zaire, but its political cousin Edodo, which has been wiping out seemingly robust governing parties around the world. In its various strains, it has swept away the Soviet Communist Party, chewed up Canada's Conservatives and destroyed Italy's Christian Democrats. America's Democrats should be worried. They are exhibiting alarming early symptoms of deadly disease.
