NBC, an American television network, unveiled an alliance with Microsoft to create a global 24-hour a day news service for both cable television and the Internet. NBC also knocked rivals for six with a $2.3 billion deal giving it exclusive rights to American coverage of the Olympic Games until 2008.

Motorola plans to make Microsoff's Windows NT the cornerstone operating system for its new line of computers that can run on multiple systems. AT&T and Hewlett-Packard announced an alliance to develop and market equipment and software jointly for phone networks and cable-Tv systems.
