Michael Grade promises reform and no more apologies
AFTER months of misery at the BBC, Michael Grade's arrival on April 2nd as its new chairman was a happy occasion. Staff welcomed him with a standing ovation. A charismatic and outspoken member of a famous theatrical family, Mr Grade reminds BBCniks of a popular figure from the past, the previous director-general Greg Dyke. Mr Dyke resigned in January after an official inquiry criticised the corporation's handling of a damagingly incorrect news story about the government's case for invading Iraq.
