THE timing of "Tough Choices" ought to be vindication enough for Carly Fiorina. In her glory days, Ms Fiorina spent six years as Fortune magazine's "most powerful woman in business" and led her company, Hewlett-Packard, through the largest and most controversial merger in the technology industry. Then, in February 2005, she was fired by the board that hadbetrayed her.
Twenty months later, her account of these events hits the shelves just as that same board is self-destructing. Patricia Dunn, the woman who replaced Ms Fiorina as chairman, stands accused of felonies in a hunt to find leakers on the board and last month resigned.
