Caregivers vote to strike

A Templeton healthcare facility for people with intellectual disabilities faces strike action over a contract dispute.
Members of the National Union of Public Employees (NUPE) and the Nurses Organisation working at Brackenridge Estate have voted to strike for 48 hours from Friday, January 11.
NUPE organiser Janice Gemmell said the unions, which are seeking a 20 per cent pay rise and higher rates for overtime, had been unable to reach agreement with Brackenridge management through contract negotiations that began in September.
