Farmers typically have difficulties marketing their grain. Although we all strive to sell our crops in the top one-third of the price range, most of us sell in the bottom one-third. We tend to fall into the trap of thinking "it'll go higher." Or we'll be so busy with the production end of farming that we miss vital news that initiates a price swing.

There is a solution: Turn your sales over to a professional grain-marketing service. Since 2002, we've allotted a share of our crops to Pro-Mark Grain, a company based in Minneapolis. Their goal coincides with ours of selling in the top-third of the trading range. Of course, there are other private companies and some grain elevators that also will manage sales for you.
