ABC executive to lead telco programer The search for an executive to run Disney's venture with the telcos is over, and the winner is Steve Weiswasser. He has been named chief executive officer of Americast, the joint venture between The Walt Disney Co., BellSouth Corp., SBC Communications Inc., Ameritech Corp.

and GTE Corp. Weiswasser has been president of Capital Cities/ABC Inc.'s multimedia group; it is not known who will replace him in the aftermath of Disney's merger with CapCities/ABC. "We're going to create content, market it and send it over the state-of-the-art distribution system from the telephone companies," says Weiswasser.
