Group hopes for standardized approach to free airtime Backers of free political airtime who hope to convince broadcasters to put up a TV "roadblock" for candidate statements will need to overcome some obstacles of their own this week. Network executives will convene in Washington on Wednesday to discuss coordinating their various free-time proposals and perhaps delivering simultaneous coverage similar to that of the President's State of the Union address.
